Meet the Grubbies: Tiny Guardians of Mischief and Magic

Let me introduce you to my Grubbies—little monsters with big personalities who bring a bit of mischief, magic, and imagination wherever they go.

Each Grubbie is a tiny guardian with its own home, usually a small container, but they’re not stuck there. That container is just their cozy resting spot. They are free to pop out and explore whenever they want, just like your creativity.

Where the Grubbies Came From

The idea for Grubbies came from my love of small creatures that spark the imagination. At first, I kept calling them “little monsters,” but my daughter started calling them “Grubbies,” and the name just felt right. It was playful and unique, and it captured their spirit perfectly.

I love the idea of having something tiny and expressive you can display, something that brings a smile and reminds you to stay playful and curious. That’s really the heart of what the Grubbies are all about.

Each One is Different

Every Grubbie I make has its own distinct personality. Some are soft and joyful, like Little Grace. Others are deep feelers, like Feeling Feelings, who reminds us that having big emotions is a beautiful part of being human. A few might be a little mischievous, but never in a bad way. Each one has its own story, and no two are ever exactly the same.

A Little Piece of Playful Art

Each Grubbie is handcrafted from several layers of laser-cut wood. I cut out each piece, glue them together with care, and hand paint them with acrylics. After painting, I seal each Grubbie with a protective finish so they are ready to be loved and displayed. They are little works of art that you can hold in your hand or place on a shelf to bring a bit of color and joy into your space.

They are also an accessible way to collect original artwork—no frames required.

Grubbies are for anyone who loves cute, colorful, whimsical things. Whether you are a kid, a grown-up, a collector, or someone who just wants a little spark of happiness on your desk or altar, there is a Grubbie out there waiting for you.

What’s Next

I’m planning to release even more original Grubbies soon, each with their own style and story. I am also working on turning a few into stickers and exploring what other forms they might take in the future. There is so much room for the Grubbie world to grow, and I’m excited to see where it goes.
